I have began to look into the different styles of posters regarding mental health currently, and have managed to find a few interesting ones:
These posters were part of a campaign by Mcann Erickson Manchester, the images were created by San-Fransisco based 'Scloopy', and show a portrait of a man which at first glance looks like it is made out of strings, but in closer inspection it is actually words and phrases associated with various mental health problems.
I think this is subtly effective as it does take a few moments to realise that the 'strings' are actually text, I think it would really make an impact. These posters were actually for Leeds Counselling and appeared in doctors surgeries, clinics, student halls and other places throughout Leeds.
I found this poster by Ben Haymann which communicates the association some people in society may have with criminals and mental health. It aims to combat the stigma involved that if you have a mental illness, you're basically more likely to commit crime. Faces such as Charles Manson are seen in this poster.
I'm extremely fond of this poster as it shares the same concept of 'dropping the stigma' for mental illness and I like the collage textures.
This was created for a mental health awareness campaign in Singapore by Agathe de Bailliencourt. She wrote this campaign in English even though it is not her native language, it reflects the lack of control and feelings some mental health patients may have. I think it's extremely dark and effective, I'd like to pursue this tone in my posters, as I think it reflects the message I want to portray well.
