The words I got in the previous task where:
- Confusing
- Busy
- Unnecessary
- Saturated
- Big
- Urban
- Relevant
- Aggressive
I decided that the typeface I would choose for this task must reflect these words in a more positive way. The original design focuses more on the imagery, which is more relevant to the title and content of the book than typefaces, however by picking one that communicates these words, it will hopefully be successful.
But first I created two different sketches of where my text would be (a hierarchy of information):
I initially was going to choose Bebas as it's large, tall and in your face, much like advertisements. It also looks real nice and appealing. However we were limited with time to produce this piece so my next choice was Futura as I thought it was extremely relevant to the concept and the word "Obey" because of the brand; and the book is all about brands/corporations. However I went with a less bold variation as to not make it too similar.
The author and the tagline are above and underneath the main title as I wanted "giant" to really stand out and be the biggest part, for obvious reasons.
