The first being, what is a book?
Although we got a lot of words down associated with books, we didn't really come up with a solid definition. When our group was asked, we said a "sequential information bound in a folded document" or, even more 'loose', a "product".
The next question was what is the purpose of a book?
Again it was difficult to narrow it down, we got a lot of words but we thought 'communication' and to inform seemed to be the most important purposes.
We were also asked how a book is constructed, and for this there are different aspects to look at. Physically constructed? or the way a book is constructed using words/paragraphs etc?
It's hard to communicate an exact definition to something when there are so many different things associated with it! We thought about WHO constructs books too, e.g the author, and trees obviously...
We were asked what our two favourite books were, and I said Harry Potter because of the value it had to me when I was younger, it was my favourite thing and I enjoyed the books and have read them multiple times. I also said the Gruffalo as I loved the illustrations included, they have a really nostalgic feel to them, similar to Where The Wild Things Are.
