OUGD402 | STUDIO BRIEF 3 | THE TETLEY

The Tetley is a centre for contemporary art and learning located in the stunning art deco headquarters of the former Tetley Brewery in central Leeds. The vibes that the Tetley had contrasted a lot with the modern feel of the Hepworth.

I wasn't fond of that many pieces in the exhibitions, it seemed more like a traditional museum/gallery and didn't have anything too eye catching within it. The rooms were quite cramped which may be a positive for some exhibitions but for the Tetley, not so much. The rooms were not set out with anything exciting in them to draw me in.

It was good to see an example of how artwork is displayed in a gallery however I think it was a more negative experience than anything to take inspiration from for brief 3

These pieces were probably the only ones I particularly liked because of the mysterious patterns and repetitive nature.

The way the Tetley was set out and the locations of the signs was clear, which was a positive. I almost felt these signs looked out of place in the 'dated' feel of the gallery. They're much more minimal and modern than the setting.

They also had an area where you could draw freely, so naturally we all decided to draw each other..
