OUGD404 | WHAT IS A BOOK? | FINAL PRODUCT

Today I printed out my booklet in the print room. The entire document was 28 pages in length, meaning 14 spreads in total.

I chose to print on off white sugar paper, as it looked organic and was quite cheap also sustainable. It is also quite thin and obviously wouldn't take that much of a tree to construct.  I also like how it looks, and thought it would make my images have a unique quality. I usually go for matte paper so this was quite different and exciting to see how it would work out. The paper I chose gave the same effect as the book I researched, Frost* which is what I was aiming for.

The things I would do differently if I was to do this project again would be to definitely make some of the text over the images stand out more, as the font and colour didn't work as well when I printed it.

Even though the binding I felt was the most appropriate choice for my book, I felt I could have done this to a better quality (I'm not the best at anything manual/hands on like sewing...) as it's a little wonky.. but still works.

Cutting my booklet down.

I was really happy with the colour of the lime/yellow especially on this page. The black background on the quote stands out well against it.

A problem I found with my choice of stock is that the ink would very easily 'break' and be pulled out of the paper. This is a little disheartening as it makes my book look a lot more unprofessional and messy. Although I was not going for a refined, expensive looking book, it still would have been better if the ink took a little better to the stock.
