I began by researching into the existing Kickstarter projects on the website. Initially I started with the Music category, as I am quite interested in designing for bands/artists; however I wanted a band with a very specific genre and none of the ones I saw grabbed my attention.
Although not what I had in mind, I finally came across a 'theatric poetry' album, entitled "BLACKBIRD" which I felt I could possibly do a good job of branding. In the description it went into further detail on what the songs on the album entailed.
"BLACKBIRD is a mythological airline. The planes always have seats. The poems on this album (all of which are already complete) share stories of abuse, bullying, the effects of racism and intolerance, but they also offer hope, peace, and show what can happen when we eliminate fear with love.”
I feel this would make a very interesting project as the music on this album is obviously very meaningful and deep. I would have to decide on what style of logo would be most appropriate for something like this. The existing artwork on Kickstarter looks a little bit ‘shabby’ and not as professional as I would imagine for an album like this. I even think that the logo/album cover could be a lot more minimal and still emit the same gloomy vibe.

I continued searching online and tried a different category; Fashion. Here I found two options for this brief. The first is Chonaic, a vegan, sweatshop free, cruelty free clothing brand. I felt drawn to this brand because of how focused on morals it was. Unfortunately, some brands with the same ideaologies adopt a very organic looking brand identity which I feel sometimes can get easily cast aside and forgotten about as it is only appealing to one audience.

The second brand I found was Mountain Top, specialising in hand made jewellery. The jewellery is frequently made with semi precious stones. The brand’s description has a ‘free spirit’ vibe going on:
“Since making acquaintance accidentally in Seattle and finding our shared interest surprisingly, we have been purchasing various kinds of gems from all over the world to make beautiful handicraft works.
Leaving the office and boring work behind, we established a small shop in No. 26 Xiaotong Alley in Chengdu. We named it Shanjian (Among the Mountains), hoping that it would be a place where people can find the most beautiful things in the world. With the same love for travelling, we decided to look for our treasures on trips and reached an agreement to break the bound and embrace freedom in turns, wishing that the journey would never cease.”

I now need to decide which project I will choose to brand.
