We had not finalised how we wanted the 'cards' to look yet, so I experimented
This idea shows the cards vertically stacking. The idea of the stack is to show variety, and an abundance of information at the user's fingertips. It's a fun way to display news in a modern composition; it's a bit different too than the regular news app.
This idea was effective, however Jack was unsure that the black and white would work, and I agreed. The black and white would change to a colour photo once the reader went into the article, however this is unnecessary and overcomplicates things. It may make the topic's colour pop out more, though.
The typeface of choice was helvetica, highly legible and modern, gives a clean aesthetic overall.
This shows a different structure to the cards, and like me and Jack suspected, this is way too much on the screen. It makes us have to compromise on sizing for the main card in the forefront. This design needed to be simplified, yet still keeping a similar theme.
Here there is just one card, which is a much simpler version. It still acts as a card but takes a way a lot of unnecessary elements on the screen. I also began to experiment with the idea of article teasers when the user swipes down.
These designs will need tweaking before theyre animated by Jack.
