OUGD503 / STUDIO BRIEF 02 / POSTERS

Me and Jack decided to create two posters to advertise the app. These posters can be placed within major cities in order for a large diversity of people to see it. It needed to capture our concept well, and communicate what the app offers the user.

This was what I first came up with. It features the pronouns we will be using within the video. These personal pronouns are diverse and a way to allow everyone to feel included and addressed. It implies all these pronouns are under the umbrella of "your", and also adds a personal feel. This poster only really shows the name of the app, and does not really show any of the key features.

I moved onto this poster, showing the customise icons along with other key icons featured throughout the app. Again, we needed a stronger slogan, me and Jack both decided that we should come up with two slogans for each poster we will design.

In the end after discussing it, we decided we needed to use slogans related to playing cards, as this is a strong theme throughout the app. We came up with "it's your hand" and "it's your move". Both of these slogans contain the personal pronoun 'your' which, like the name of the app, conveys personalisation and inclusion through direct address. It is as though through the advertisement, the audience is being spoken to individually. It communicates our entire concept extremely well, the ability to control their news however they want.

The final poster only includes icons from the customise tool, as this works much better. It shows the action of adding a widget into an area within the app, creatively onto the poster. Since it is fairly minimal, the use of neutral colours amongst the vivid pink is contemporary and eyecatching, alongside corresponding with the brand/app.

Both the finished posters mocked up.

The one on the left was the poster that Jack created, showing the news categories as part of a deck of cards, again representing a lot of our app theme. The tagline, 'its your hand' plays on this theme and again suggests the control of the user.
