I chose to work with Jack as he had also wrote down on the pitcha pitcha presentation that he also wanted to work on the Telegraph, and knowing him well I knew that he had a passion for UX/UI. Meanwhile, me being fairly unexperienced in this field, wanted to find out if it was a discipline I wanted to pursue. Through working with Jack throughout the course, I knew we were on the same wavelength and had a similar style and got along well, therefore working together for this brief made sense.
Cons:
The main problem with working on this brief was that although me and Jack have similar design styles in other areas, when it came to UX/UI, we seemed to disagree on some things regarding the composition and design decisions. To solve this, we both separately worked on initial resolutions and presented these ideas to eachother to finalise what the overall aesthetic should look like. Since I was fairly unaware of what works best regarding UX/UI, I perhaps needed to listen to Jack more when he suggested something didn't work, without taking it too personally. This brief allowed me to work on this, and accept critique, especially from someone I know well. Since Jack is already knowledgeable in this field of design, he could come across as taking a lot of charge for the project, however this was simply because he knew what would work best, and if he hadn't of done this, the project could have been a lot less effective.
Pros:
The major pro in working with Jack was that I learned a lot about UX/UI and became much more familiar with it. By the end of the project I really began to appreciate this field of design and enjoy it. Towards the beginning I was not confident at all with my ideas, and found it difficult overall. Jack always encouraged me, shared skills with me and allowed me to become a lot more confident in this field. He was also responsible for animating the submission, without him I could not have created such a professional and engaging submission. I know nothing about After Effects, so Jack's recent knowledge in this was crucial. He managed to create an impressive video which I simply could not have done myself.
This brief challenged us both, and I feel we both managed to organise the responsibility to our strengths, and ended up working together as a brilliant team.
